THANKSGIVING

It's more than a month away, but this quote struck me as I read it from Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass a minute ago: "...this living word of faith and spirit of hope departed not from me, but remained like ministering angels to cheer me through the gloom. This good spirit was from God, and to him I offer thanksgiving and praise," (19).

I get caught up with everything that's going
to "terribly" in my life that I forget to be thankful for what I do have. If Freddy D can live as a slave and still find time to be thankful and to assure himself that he will always be thankful, I can too.

So, I'm just going to throw random things that I'm thankful of out there. PLEASE join me! It's cheesy, but that's okay. Off the top of my head, I'm thankful for...

laundry machines
rainbow suspenders
xbox
blue pens
Frederick Douglass
panda express
good books
taylor swift
doctors
grey's anatomy
funny people
memories
...freedom
foreign languages
gypsies

kind of embarrassing,  but worth it.

  1. The same thing happens to me as well -- I get so busy with school and extracurricular activities that I sometimes forget to acknowledge and be thankful for everything I have. I am incredibly lucky to be living where I do and have the caring, loving family that I do, and I should take more time to express my thankfulness. I am also thankful for my friends, school, TV, computer, and books.

  2. I am thankful for the fact that dinosaurs existed, as they were pretty cool. I am also thankful for the meteor that killed them so that mammals could develop. I am not sure if I am thankful for tvs, cell phones and computers, but I am thankful that they have allowed me to keep in touch with my good friends from out of state.

I'm thankful for hot chocolate, for spice cabinets, for being able to learn, and for fuzzy fleeces.
    Also:
Words that sound funny, narwhals, French accents, photography, pencils, cerulean and scarlet crayons, the way the darkroom at school sounds when your classmates are in there, but no teachers (so singing), brightly colored hoodies, favorite soft (gap) v-neck tees, and ballet flats. Sarah Goo, cool last names, the smell of old books, glasses, ice tea and lemonade, the mountains and the desert, the couple seconds before the sun rises, and the way my farm in Wisconsin smelled early in the morning when the dew made everything bright and awake. And worn out sneakers that might be getting holes that you hide from your mom so she doesnt make you throw them out. And cool fonts, and lazy saturdays when you watch movies all day with your friends. And the British coastline. And wind, I love wind. And big big open spaces where you can see for miles.

    Kay, that's some. :)
